Eating at one of the best Formentera restaurants by boat is an experience worth crossing from Ibiza for: anchor in turquoise water, let the restaurant dinghy collect you, eat with your feet in the sand, then return to the yacht and cruise into sunset.
The detail most guides miss is logistics. Not every famous restaurant is genuinely accessible from the sea. Dinghy service, wind direction and anchoring conditions can decide whether lunch feels effortless or uncomfortable.
This guide is written by the De Antonio Yachts Ibiza team. We coordinate restaurant bookings, skippers, tenders and VHF calls throughout the season, so the recommendations combine food and atmosphere with the practical information needed for a smooth charter day.
If you need restaurants reached by road or ferry as well, see our complete guide to Formentera restaurants.
To make this guide truly useful and not just another, all the restaurants we include meet three strict requirements:
Dinghy service confirmed. We have verified one by one that they offer active pickup from an anchored boat. If a restaurant does not have this service operational in 2026, it does not make the list — no matter how iconic it is.
Information verified in 2026. We call directly or work with each restaurant each season. We have removed from the guide any premises closed, transferred or without operational service, for example, the old Es Ministre that changed to Cala Duo.
For each restaurant we include whenever it is available: the VHF channel to coordinate the pick-up with the skipper, the restaurant’s direct telephone number, the approximate GPS coordinates for the yacht’s chartplotter, the realistic average ticket per person and our recommendation on when to choose it.
Why this matters: many Guides circulating online are outdated or copy lists without verifying them.
We operate charters in Ibiza and Formentera every week of the season, which gives us access to first-hand information that no generic post has.
If you only have 30 seconds, these are our quick picks. Every venue listed in the main guide offers boat access and a dinghy collection service, subject to the day’s sea conditions.

Frequently asked questions: shifts, dinghy, tips, wind and food on board.
This is the part that is most difficult to understand for those who rent a boat in Ibiza for the first time. And yet, it is what most differentiates a perfect day from a disastrous day.
The two coasts of Formentera: why the wind decides your plan
Formentera has two clearly differentiated coasts:
West coast: Ses Illetes, Cavall d’en Borràs, Espalmador, La Savina and Cala Saona.
East coast: Es Pujols, Es Caló and Playa de Levante.
Depending on the wind of the day, one side may be perfectly protected while the other is directly uncomfortable for anchoring the boat. And this totally changes your plan.
At De Antonio Yachts Ibiza we always recommend the same thing to our clients: book two restaurants in advance, one on each side of the island. Why?
How to manage the forecast:
Then the reservation on the optimal side is simply kept and the other is canceled. It may seem exaggerated… until you understand how Formentera really works in summer.
Something important that almost no guide mentions:
many Formentera restaurants with dinghy service work in two meal shifts:
The second shift is preferred by the majority of yacht charter guests, because it allows you to sail calmly from Ibiza in the morning, make a swimming stop in Espalmador, anchor near the restaurant at 3:00 p.m. and eat calmly without rushing to return. We will see it in detail in the itinerary later.
When you arrive by boat at a restaurant in Formentera, normally the yacht remains anchored and it is the restaurant that sends a small tender (dinghy or zodiac) to pick up the customers.
Important: many Formentera restaurants by boat operate via VHF radio on specific channels. Your skipper will call the restaurant by radio to coordinate the pick-up. The most used channels:
About the cost of the dinghy:
And honestly: they deserve it. They work all summer in the sun making constant transfers. Our advice is to always carry cash and tip elegantly. The usual amount is between €10 and €30 each way, or even more depending on the group and the service.
Important: not all restaurants have a dinghy service. There are beautiful restaurants in Formentera that cannot be easily gotten off from the boat because they do not offer pick-up. In this guide we only include restaurants with confirmed dinghy service.
We structure the guide exactly how the island works in reality: by geographical area, because that is what determines where you are going to eat on any given day.
All restaurants in this section have confirmed dinghy service. If you are looking for restaurants in Formentera that are not accessible by sea, consult our guide Complete list of Formentera restaurants. Below you will find the 14 best Formentera restaurants with boat access organized by area. This geographic classification is the one professionally used by captains and charter operators, because it allows you to adapt the plan to the wind of the day.
This is the best area for about 70-80% of summer days. More protected waters, more comfortable anchoring. Here are the most famous and exclusive beach bars and restaurants to eat in Ses Illetes and Cavall d’en Borràs by boat.

Talking about Juan and Andrea is talking about the gastronomic history of Formentera. Founded in 1971 by Juan and Andrea—two mythical names on the island, when there were still no roads and people only arrived here by sea—this restaurant continues to maintain the essence that made it one of the most famous restaurants in the Mediterranean. Currently his children continue the project with the same love and success.
For many people it continues to be THE most exclusive restaurant in Formentera. And it is no coincidence:
Exquisite service.
Spectacular product: fresh fish of the day, paellas, seafood.
Elegant atmosphere with direct view of Ses Illetes.
Premium international clientele: it is common to find VIPs and celebrities.
Excellent tender/dinghy service, one of the most fluid in the industry. island.

Probably one of the most sophisticated and exclusive restaurants in Formentera. Located in an old restored salt mill at the beginning of the Illetas sandy area, with its own parking and a small dock for mooring boats, it has something special: the surroundings are beautiful, the views are spectacular and the atmosphere conveys a very elegant Mediterranean luxury.
Its specialties are fish rice dishes and fresh local fish dishes, served in a terrace with views of the sunset. The chill-out area is truly wonderful. Its white tower is recognizable from practically anywhere in the northern part of the island.
Fun fact: Es Molí de Sal is one of Rafa Nadal’s favorite restaurants on his visits to Formentera, according to industry sources.
When to choose it: quiet meals, couples, premium clients, refined gastronomy, impeccable service. Average spend: high (≈ €100-160 per person).

Located south of Cavall d’en Borràs beach, very close to the mouth of the port of Formentera. Recognizable by the large white letter B on the roof. If you are looking for a young atmosphere, music, energy and a very Ibiza-Formentera international profile, Beso Beach is an absolute classic.
Perfect for:
Important: book WAY in advance. The best tables are usually assigned to regular customers. Average spend: high (≈ €80-130 per person).

A classic completely renovated historic. Recognizable by its iconic black flag with a skull. In recent years they have greatly improved the menu, the service, the atmosphere and the general experience.
It is practically the only restaurant literally on the sand of Ses Illetes (the others are on the dunes). If you arrive by boat, you can anchor in front of the restaurant and they will come to pick you up. Ideal for those looking for a consolidated restaurant but with a fresher feel. Average spend: medium-high (≈ €70-110 per person).

Located in the northern area of Cavall d’en Borràs, between Es Molí de Sal and Beso Beach. Unmistakable because of the shark installed on the roof. The owners themselves define it as a restaurant/chiringuito: probably the most “easy-going” and informal in the entire area, with simpler and Mediterranean cuisine, but also with premium lobster-type products.
Together with Cala Duo, it probably has one of the best sunsets in Formentera. Exotic atmosphere, feet in the sand, Mediterranean flavors and a careful wine list. Arnold and Mónica, its owners, have been at the helm for more than 25 years.
When to choose it: informal meals, customers who prefer less posturing, relaxed evenings with a cocktail in hand. Average spend: medium (≈ €50-80 per person).

Cala Duo occupies the space of the old Es Ministre, completely renovated after the sale of the restaurant. Today it represents that perfect balance between elegant restaurant and relaxed atmosphere. It has a more modern, stylish and cool profile, ideal for couples, sophisticated groups, international clients and relaxed meals after sailing.
Together with Kiosko Tiburón, it also competes for the best sunsets in Formentera. It is highly recommended to book in advance.

If we talk about value for money within the premium segment, Can Carlitos is probably the big winner. Chef Nandu Jubany’s restaurant is simply spectacular. His cooking never fails. And the rice or paella served on board from Can Carlitos is an authentic experience.
It is not literally on the sand, but on a rocky area facing the sea near La Savina. But precisely that gives it a different character: here you come to eat incredible, without the excess of posturing of other places.
Highly recommended for:
Average spend: medium-high (≈ €60-100 per person) — surprisingly affordable for the level offered.

Hotel Cala Saona Official website: hotelcalasaona.com
Formentera’s great gastronomic novelty for the 2026 season: the prestigious chef Ramón Freixa (two Michelin Stars in Madrid) lands at the Hotel Cala Saona with TWO different spaces. The first is the Cala Saona Ramón Freixa Restaurant, a beachfront beach bar open at noon with Mediterranean cuisine based on landscape, product and territory.
Cuisine connected to the island: pastisset de peix, crystal bread with fuet de porc negre, cuttlefish with Iberian ham and caviar. For those looking for a very high gastronomic level in one of the most beautiful coves in Formentera. Access by boat anchoring in Cala Saona.
When to choose it: premium meals with gourmet experience, couples, clients who value the chef’s signature and a spectacular environment. Average spend: high (≈ €100-180 per person).
When the west wind comes in, this area becomes the best option for eating on a boat. Less known than Ses Illetes, but with Formentera restaurants by boat magnificent:

Open since 1978, Tanga is located directly on Levante Beach and is probably the most authentic and casual restaurant Formentera that is left on the island. Luxury here is not about pretending. It is in the location, the atmosphere, the simplicity, the sea and the authentic essence of Formentera.
Mediterranean cuisine with local products and modern touches: typical fish, seafood, paellas and also pizzas and hamburgers on the menu — which is why it also works very well with children. Highly recommended for those who want a more local experience and less posturing. Average spend: medium (≈ €45-75 per person).

A classic restaurant where the food is extraordinarily good. Here the protagonist is the product, the fish, the service and tranquility. It is one of the most recognized in the world in terms of seafood, fish and rice – the “paella del senorito” is legendary – and has one of the most complete wine lists on the island.
Perfect for those who want a more traditional and slow meal. Average spend: medium-high (≈ €70-110 per person).
One of the most memorable ways to enjoy Formentera is to have lunch delivered directly to your yacht. Some premium restaurants prepare the order and bring it out by dinghy, so you can stay at anchor.
Arrange delivery when booking and reconfirm the time by VHF. The restaurant bill is normally settled with the restaurant team, while the dinghy transfer or tip is paid separately in cash. Can Carlitos, Chezz Gerdi and Aigua are our principal recommendations for food on board.

One of the most frequently asked questions we receive. This is the realistic itinerary that works best for a standard 8-hour charter from Marina Ibiza, with lunch in the second shift and return at sunset.
Why this schedule works better than leaving earlier: The second meal shift (15:30-16:00) is the favorite of yacht charter guests because it allows for leisurely sailing in the morning, a relaxed meal, and enjoying the sunset during the return to Ibiza. This is exactly how a perfect boat day on these islands works.
The dinghy service is paid in cash to the boy who drives, it is not included in the bill. About €10-30 each way. Always carry small bills.
The most used VHF channels are: Juan y Andrea CH 74, Beso Beach CH 76, Es Molí de Sal CH 87, Chezz Gerdi CH 68 and Kiosko Tiburón CH 66. Each restaurant has its assigned channel and usually indicates it on its website or when confirming the reservation. Always ask for it when making the reservation so that your skipper has it prepared.
Dinghy service is not included in the boat rental or restaurant bill. You pay directly in cash to the boatman who drives the dinghy, normally between €10 and €30 each way, or more depending on the group and service. Always carry small bills.
Most Formentera restaurants with dinghys work in two shifts: 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. (sometimes 3:30 p.m.). The second shift is the preferred one for yacht charter guests, because it allows you to sail quietly in the morning, eat relaxed in the second shift and enjoy the sunset during the return to Ibiza.
Yes. Some premium restaurants offer food service on board: the restaurant prepares the dishes (especially paellas, rice, fish, salads) and sends them by dinghy to your yacht at anchor. The best known for this service are Can Carlitos in La Savina, Chezz Gerdi in Es Pujols and Aigua. This must be coordinated when making the reservation.
Prices vary greatly. The premium restaurants (Juan y Andrea, Es Molí de Sal, Beso Beach, Chezz Gerdi, the new Ramón Freixa) have average spend of €90-180 per person. Mid-range restaurants (Cala Duo, El Pirata, Fandango, Hana, Restaurant Es Caló) range between €60-110. The most informal ones with dinghy (Kiosko Tiburón, Tanga) are between €45-80.
It depends on what you are looking for. For iconicity and celebrities, Juan and Andrea (Ses Illetes). For better premium quality-price, Can Carlitos by chef Nandu Jubany (La Savina). For haute cuisine in 2026, the Ramón Freixa spaces in Cala Saona. For atmosphere and energy, Beso Beach. For authenticity, Tanga in Levante Beach. For elegant Italian, Chezz Gerdi in Es Pujols.
Yes, especially in July and August. Book 3-4 weeks in advance for premium restaurants (Juan y Andrea, Es Molí de Sal, Beso Beach, Ramón Freixa). In June and September, 7-10 days is enough. In May and October availability is much greater. We always recommend booking TWO restaurants (one on each side of the island) in case the wind changes, and canceling the one on the unused side 24 hours in advance.
Formentera has two clearly differentiated coasts: the West (Ses Illetes, Cavall d’en Borràs, La Savina, Cala Saona) and the East Coast (Es Pujols, Playa de Levante, Es Caló). With a gusty west wind, the Ses Illetes area becomes uncomfortable for anchoring and eating. With easterly winds, the area of Es Pujols and Playa de Levante can be uncomfortable. That’s why we recommend booking two restaurants, one on each side.
Juan y Andrea, on Ses Illetes beach, is for most THE most exclusive and iconic restaurant in Formentera accessible by boat. Founded in 1971, it maintains its status as a meeting point for premium international clientele and celebrities. Its tender service (VHF CH 74) is one of the most fluid on the island.
The big news of 2026 is the arrival of chef Ramón Freixa (two Michelin Stars in Madrid) at the Cala Saona Hotel, with two different spaces: Restaurant Cala Saona Ramón Freixa (noon beach bar) and Sol Post Ramón Freixa (night gastronomic restaurant with tasting menu and the best Formentera sunset). Access by boat anchoring in Cala Saona.

To make this guide complete, we also want to make it clear which well-known Formentera restaurants are NOT on the list above and why. If you have seen their names recommended in other “boat restaurant” guides, here is the reality:
Good fresh fish, highly recommended restaurant, but the logistics from the boat do not work well: no operational dinghy service and an anchoring area that is not very comfortable for a yacht. It is best accessed by walking from the Es Pujols promenade.
Last restaurant on Ses Illetes beach towards the port of La Savina. Unlike the rest of the beach, Sa Sequi does NOT have a zodiac or boatman service — it can only be accessed by anchoring the boat and walking down. It is mentioned in some guides but technically it is not “accessible by boat” in the operational sense.
Other excellent restaurants in Formentera that are NOT in this guide because they do not have access by boat: Blue Bar, Beach Club 10.7, Sa Platgeta and Pirata Bus (all in Playa de Migjorn, without operating dinghy service); Ca Na Pepa, Quartieri Spagnoli, Fonda Pepe and Can Forn (interior, Sant Francesc and Sant Ferran). If you want to include them in your day in Formentera you will have to go by car, taxi or ferry.
